Mina

A newborn log for two phones. Feeds, diapers, and sleep logged by tap, widget, or Siri, shared through iCloud so both parents see the same log.

Mina's Today screen: the last feed, the next feed estimate, current sleep, today's totals, and large buttons for bottle, nurse, diaper and sleep.
Today: the last feed, the next one, and big buttons for one hand.

Free, open source, no accounts, no servers.

The problem

Baby-tracking apps want accounts, subscriptions, and a server holding your newborn's data. I wanted one that was free, private, and fast enough to use one-handed at 3 AM.

What I built

SwiftUI on iPhone and iPad with CloudKit sharing, Home Screen and lock-screen widgets through an App Group, Siri intents, partner alerts that batch and rate-limit themselves, a calendar and searchable history, an age-based guide, and an on-device Ask that answers questions about the log without a network call.

Mina's Today screen: the last feed, the next feed estimate, current sleep, today's totals, and large buttons for bottle, nurse, diaper and sleep.

1. Log a feed, a diaper or sleep with one tap.

Mina's Calendar screen: a month view with a dot per logged event, and today's entries listed below.

2. Every day on a calendar, with the entries under it.

Mina's Trends screen: seven-day averages for feeds, diapers and sleep, with bar charts of bottle ounces and sleep hours per day.

3. Trends over the last week: feeds, sleep and diapers.

Where it is now

Built for my own daughter. Free, open source, no accounts, no servers.

A short tour of the app.

Two tired parents get one shared log, a feed alarm, and a handoff for the nights, with nothing leaving their phones.

Made with Swift, SwiftUI, CloudKit and WidgetKit.

  • iPhone + iPad
  • iCloud sharing between phones
  • On-device Ask, no servers
